This week I’m sitting down the Olivia Vella, the amazing young woman behind the monologue about self-worth and peer pressure that went viral a few weeks ago on news outlets in the U.S. You can find the video of her performing her monologue here: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/teen-inspires-with-powerful-school-poem-popular-isnt-always-a-good-thing/. Olivia lives in Arizona and will be entering eighth grade in the fall, and she was kind enough to come on the podcast and let me ask her questions about her inspiration behind the monologue and what middle school is really like right now. We discuss the way young adults use social media, peer pressure and bullying that goes on in middle schools, and why there is a lack of respect amongst teens. We talk about why teens might be afraid of high school, how things are different when you get older, and more. Olivia shares how she prepared for her monologue and why she is so passionate about this subject. She opens up about her own experiences as a teen and describes the changes she noticed in other students after sharing it with them.

Don’t forget to check out my favorite way to stock up on all of my pantry staples – THRIVE MARKET! You guys know how picky I am about my ingredients and kitchen staples, which usually means having to make multiple trips to different grocery stores just to keep my favorite products stocked up. Plus, a lot of the food brands I love most have a high markup at the store. Thrive Market is the best because you can order organic, nutritious foods and nontoxic home and personal care items at discounted prices all online and get them delivered straight to your door! You can use filters like “Paleo,” “vegan,” “raw,” “gluten-free,” and more to find new products as well!

For a limited time Thrive is offering a FREE 15 oz jar of Organic Coconut Oil with your first purchase! Coconut oil is my favorite oil to cook with and has so many amazing health benefits. It’s a staple in baking and roasting. I also love to use it to moisturize my skin, to remove makeup, to oil pull, and more!
