NAKED Football

October 7, 2015

No, I didn’t go to a football game naked.

But I did use my Urban Decay NAKED palette for some quick & easy game day makeup!

The original NAKED palette is an oldie, but always a goodie. With its excellent pigmentation, great blendability, and perfect variety of finishes, it’s one of those palettes that I always find myself going back to. A lot of my go-to, don’t-have-to-think-about-it looks come from this palette because it really has everything a girl could need. Most beauty lovers have this in their collection already, so I thought I’d share a super simple look from this palette – perfect for game day! It took me less than 5 minutes to complete my eyes, which featured a variety of warm golden shades to give me some sparkle and some smoke (but not too much!). This look transitions perfectly from day to night because it’s not too dark to be a total smoky eye, but not so light as to lack any depth for a nighttime event. And I promise it will look amazing on everyone!

After priming your lids, (I used MAC’s Soft Ochre paint pot, set with my face powder) use a fluffy crease brush to sweep Naked through the crease as your transition shade. Realllllly work that into the crease – this will make it a lot easier to blend out the rest of the shades. With the same brush, use windshield wiper motions to work Buck into the crease, right on top of Naked. This will provide just a bit more definition into the crease before you go in with the darker shades.

Use a flat shader brush to pack Half Baked onto the first half of the lid, then flip your brush over and pack Smog onto the outer half. After applying both colors, flip your brush back over and, without applying more product, tap right in between the two shades to blend them together and create a gradient of color. Take a small, soft dome brush and lightly work Hustle into the outer V of your lid. Tap Darkhorse over the same area, and bring whatever is left on the brush directly through the crease, being careful not to overblend too far up. You don’t want to look like you have a black eye. Take your first fluffy crease brush and blend through the crease one more time, really working the colors together so there are no harsh lines.

Next, sweep Virgin right beneath your brow and in the inner corner of your eyes near the tear duct for a subtle, angelic highlight. Taking a pencil brush, blend Naked along the lower lash line. Using a small shader brush, run Half Baked along the first half of your lower lash line, and place Dark Horse along the outer half. Connect Dark Horse to your outer V, blending along the way. Go in one more time with your pencil brush to really buff everything out! BAM. Shadow’s done.

I finished off the eyes by creating a medium-sized wing using my HG NYC Liquid Eyeliner, lining my waterline with L’Oreal Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliner in Black, and coating my lashes with Benefit’s They’re Real! mascara.

To complete the rest of my face, I set my makeup with my Bare Minerals READY Touch Up Veil in Translucent. This is a MUST for a hot game day – it totally mattifies my skin, locks my foundation in place, and gives me some more SPF. Us pasty girls will take some extra SPF wherever we can get it!  I LIGHTLY contoured my face with my go-to NYC Bronzer in Sunny & a large powder brush so there would be no harsh lines. Let’s be honest, I won’t fool anyone into thinking I’m tan, no matter how much bronzer I slab on there. I swept Benefit’s Bella Bamba Blush over my cheeks for a subtle pop of color, and used theBalm’s Mary-Lou Manizer to highlight my cheeks. Lastly, I finished it all off with MAC’s Velvet Teddy on my lips!

For the final touch, I set everything with my UD De-Slick Setting Spray to battle that rough LA heat, and I was ready to go! I love this look because it’s simple, easily works for day or night, and will enhance every eye color. It’s neutral enough that you don’t look like you’re trying tooooo hard, but the sparkle and depth create a little glam for a fun time out!
